These medium sized pneumatic tire fork lifts range in capacity from 16,500 lbs to 36,000 lbs capacity. Internal combustion fork lifts are most commonly equipped with six cylinder diesel engines, and rarely come from the factory with the optional eight cylinder gasoline or LPG (propane) engines.

Medium to larger sized fork lifts usually have planetary drive axles, air brakes, and 3-speed powershift transmissions. Medium-duty internal combustion pneumatic forklifts can be used indoors as long as there is adequate ventilation.

Equipped with air filled pneumatic tires these lift trucks are typically used outside on yard surfaces such as crushed concrete, packed gravel, or stabilized limestone. Medium-duty pneumatic tire forklifts are not recommended to be used on dirt, except on a very limited basis, as long as it's well packed and not loose, or muddy. Pneumatic tire forklifts can also be used on hard, smooth surfaces such as concrete.
